CV and steering rack boots made from rubber or silicone become perished from age and heat exposure and eventually over a period of time crack or split allowing dirt / dust to enter the joint and thereby cause accelerated wear. The boots themselves are relatively inexpensive. Labour charge is normally an hour. Timeous replacement could save unnecessary expenditure later on.
